The People

American —United States, Percent Christian, 81%, Percent Evangelical, 33%

Americans are the second largest people group, second only to Han Chinese. America is known as the land of freedom and opportunity and the great “melting pot,” and includes immigrants from many nations who brought their faith and culture with them to the New World.

According to the Joshua Project, the Christian faith in American faces two main problems which need prayer:

First, millions of Americans raised in a church environment are leaving Christianity. Second, the theology and priorities of many denominations and churches have drifted away from what Christianity has historically believed and the Bible itself. Though Christianity is the majority religion of the American people group, one great need is for the American people to be re-evangelized with the Gospel of Christ.
